Thank you for your interest in Spark4Kids’ term-time courses. Kindly note the following information for the upcoming Autumn 2019 Term.
We are moving to JAGS
After many years of running our term-time sessions from Dulwich College Sports Club, we are relocating to a new venue starting this Autumn.
From September 2019, Spark4Kids term-time sessions will be running at James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS). The new location is 7 minutes by car from the old location (20 minutes if walking), and the full address is 144 East Dulwich Grove, LONDON, SE22 8TE (see map).
Due to the move, we are no longer able to offer Sunday sessions as was the case at the old location. We are running more sessions, ending later on Saturday’s for those not able to attend coding on Saturday mornings.
Tech 4 LittleKids
Also due to the move to JAGS, the Tech 4 LittleKids session will now start at 10am on Saturday mornings.
Our Taster Sessions are a great way to experience what it’s like to learn computer coding with Spark4Kids. Most of the children who come to us have little or no coding experience, and so for a nominal fee, we offer the ability for children to try out coding before deciding whether or not to commit to the rest of the term.
Note: Taster Sessions are only available for term-time courses.
Taster Session Format
The Taster Session runs for just under an hour, and generally, we advise that parents drop off/leave their children and pick them at the end of the session. Of course, for those children who might take a little longer to get used to new surroundings, parents are welcome to stay as long as is required.
During the Taster Session, we will evaluate the child’s ability with a view to making a recommendation regarding which course they might want to consider. Of course, if the child (or parent) has their own views on what course they want to attend, we will do our best to accommodate or suggest a path towards being able to eventually take the preferred course.
Spark4Kids accepts childcare vouchers as payment towards our term-time courses and holiday workshops, from the following providers:
- Busy Bees
- Co-operative Flexible Benefits
- Employers For Childcare
- Enjoy Benefits
- NW Brown
- Reward Gateway
- Wider Care
The process of paying using childcare vouchers is incorporated into the standard booking process – kindly select the course you want, add to basket, and then proceed to check-out by clicking “View Basket” (you may need access to your email account). At check-out, choose “Pay with Childcare Vouchers” as the payment option, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete your booking.
Starting After Term Has Begun
With Spark4Kids, there is no such thing as a late start – your child can join their course any week during the term!
Due to the way our courses are structured, a child can start with us any week during the term, subject to spaces being available. Our courses enable children to learn at their own pace, and this means your child can join after the term has started and they will not lose out on any topics.
The earlier you book your child on a course though, the more likely you are to obtain a space.
Registering for a Taster Session
Please note that there is an administration fee for booking a Taster Session – this fee is refunded on registering for computer coding for the term.
Once you register for a Taster Session, you will be sent information about the session including how to get to the centre, what to do when you get there, as well as information on what to expect during the session.
With Spark4Kids, each child is assigned their own computer (which we provide), and using a combination of interactive audio-visual material and course ware, completes the Spark4Kids challenges in their own time. You do not need to bring anything to the Taster Session, all equipment will be provided.
Note that we allocate just 3 spaces for Taster Sessions each week, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
We look forward to seeing you at computer coding!
